PHNOM PENH, Aug. 12 (Xinhua) -- Cambodia earned 266 million U.S. dollars in revenue from exports of natural rubber latex in the first seven months of 2025, down 1 percent year-on-year, said an official report on Tuesday.

The report, released by the General Directorate of Rubber, showed that the kingdom exported 147,071 tons of the commodity during the January-July period this year, down 15.4 percent from 173,915 tons over the same period last year.

However, the domestic consumption of rubber latex saw a significant increase of 76 percent to 64,978 tons in the first seven months of this year, making a gross revenue from local sales of 118.8 million dollars, the report said.

"A ton of rubber latex averagely cost 1,812 U.S. dollars during the first seven months of 2025, about 265 dollars higher than that of the same period in 2024," Khun Kakada, deputy director general of the General Directorate of Rubber, said in the report.

The Southeast Asian nation exports the commodity mainly to Malaysia, Vietnam, Singapore and China.

Cambodia has so far planted rubber trees on a total area of 425,443 hectares, in which the trees on 330,259 hectares, or 77.6 percent, are old enough to be tapped, the report said.
