COLOMBO, Aug. 8 (Xinhua) -- Sri Lanka has earned more than 2 billion U.S. dollars from tourism in the first seven months of 2025, the latest data from the central bank showed.
Sri Lanka earned 2.03 billion dollars from tourism in the cited period, up 7.8 percent from the same period last year.
Tourist arrivals reached 1,368,288 from January to July, a 14.2 percent increase from a year earlier, the data showed.
In addition, workers' remittances exceeded 4.4 billion dollars in the first seven months, up 19.5 percent year-on-year, the central bank said.
Tourism earnings and workers' remittances remain among the country's top sources of foreign exchange. ■
