SINGAPORE, Aug. 5 (Xinhua) -- Singapore's retail sales rose 2.3 percent year-on-year in June, extending the 1.3 percent growth recorded in May, according to the Singapore Department of Statistics on Tuesday.
Excluding motor vehicles, retail sales increased by 0.4 percent, reversing the flat growth seen in May.
However, on a seasonally adjusted basis, overall retail sales declined by 1.2 percent in June compared to the previous month.
The total value of retail sales in June was estimated at 4.0 billion Singapore dollars (3.11 billion U.S. dollars), with online retail sales accounting for about 13.6 percent of the total.
Meanwhile, sales of food and beverage services rose marginally by 0.1 percent year-on-year in June, following a 1.0 percent increase in May. Seasonally adjusted figures showed a 1.5 percent decline month-on-month.
The total sales value for food and beverage services in June was estimated at 962 million Singapore dollars, with online transactions contributing roughly 26.7 percent. (1 Singapore dollar equals 0.78 U.S. dollars) ■
