SEOUL, Aug. 1 (Xinhua) -- One woman was killed and six others were injured after a vehicle drove into a restaurant in South Korea, Yonhap news agency said Friday.

The sedan, driven by a man in his 60s, rushed into the restaurant in Yongin, about 40 km south of the capital Seoul, at around 2:00 p.m. local time (0500 GMT).

A woman in her 80s, who was inside the restaurant, was taken to a hospital after suffering a serious injury, but died.

Two people were seriously wounded and four others suffered minor injuries.

The vehicle dashed into the restaurant while entering the outdoor parking lot in front of the restaurant.

The driver, who tested negative for alcohol and drug, claimed that his car leapt forward out of control.

The police planned to investigate the detailed circumstances of the accident.
