KABUL, July 25 (Xinhua) -- Personnel of law enforcement agencies have thwarted attempts to smuggle saffron in western Afghanistan's Herat province and confiscated more than 360 kg of the precious plant, reported the state-run Radio and Television of Afghanistan (RTA) on Friday.
A total of 364 kg of saffron were placed in the cavities of a vehicle in Herat, but the personnel of law enforcement agencies and customs department officials of the province foiled the smugglers' attempts and seized it, the official media outlet added. ■
