KABUL, July 17 (Xinhua) -- Afghan security forces have discovered 13,000 rounds of assault rifles in the Spin Boldak border town of the southern Kandahar province and arrested one person on charge of attempting to smuggle the munition, an army spokesman in the southern region, Ahmad Shukib, said Thursday.
Acting on a tip-off, security forces raided a market in an area and discovered the ammunition from a parked car and took into custody a smuggler, the officer said.
The smuggler has been handed over to concerned authorities for further investigations. ■
