JAKARTA, July 11 (Xinhua) -- Indonesia's population reached 286.6 million as of June 2025, marking an increase of approximately 1.7 million people compared to December 2024, according to the latest report by the Ministry of Home Affairs.
Teguh Setyabudi, director general of population and civil registration at the ministry, said on Friday that population growth remains a vital foundation for national development planning.
He also noted that the male population currently outnumbers the female population by about 2.6 million. This demographic trend, combined with the overall population increase, has prompted the government to enhance its population database in order to better support development strategies. ■
