BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN, July 10 (Xinhua) -- Brunei has proactively implemented mitigation measures to combat haze and forest fires, with a strong focus on peatland conservation and sustainable environmental management, a government minister said on Thursday.
Brunei has also bolstered coordination efforts to cultivate closer relationships, enhance understanding and promote active cooperation among all relevant stakeholders including government agencies, private developers, farmers, civil society groups, and local communities, all working together on fire prevention and haze issues, Haji Muhammad Juanda Rashid, minister of development said at the 26th meeting of the Sub-Regional Ministerial Steering Committee on Transboundary Haze Pollution.
The meeting noted the ASEAN Specialized Meteorological Centre's (ASMC's) weather and smoke haze review, as well as outlook for the southern ASEAN region. ■
