KABUL, June 24 (Xinhua) -- The Afghan Ministry of Refugees and Repatriation has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with a local leading aid agency to assist 6,000 families of returning Afghan refugees, the ministry said in a statement on Tuesday.
The total aid reached 41,466,000 afghani (more than 590,000 U.S. dollars), benefiting 6,000 Afghan returnee families at the Pul-e-Abresham border crossing in the western Nimroz province, the statement said.
The agency will donate cash and provide food items to the families, it said.
The number of Afghan refugees returning home has surged amid Iran-Israel conflict. ■
