VIENTIANE, June 18 (Xinhua) -- Representatives from the Lao Ministry of Industry and Commerce, development partners, and e-commerce businesses have gathered to review and discuss the draft complaint mechanism aimed at strengthening e-commerce dispute settlement processes.
The meeting was held on Tuesday by the Lao Ministry of Industry and Commerce in the capital Vientiane, the ministry said on Wednesday.
In his speech, Santisouk Phounsavath, director general of the Domestic Trade Department under the Ministry of Industry and Commerce, emphasized the importance of a fast, effective, and accessible system for handling e-commerce complaints.
The meeting included presentations on current dispute resolution procedures, research plans, and a review of the draft complaint mechanism.
The participants reached consensus on a framework aimed at improving complaint handling and conflict resolution in the country's growing e-commerce sector.
Laos is working to build a robust online trade environment to boost confidence among both buyers and sellers. As e-commerce continues to grow rapidly, it plays an increasingly vital role in the country's economic development and efforts to reduce poverty. ■
