VIENTIANE, June 17 (Xinhua) -- The Lao police in northern Bokeo Province seized 124 kg of ketamine hidden in a van, according to a report from the Lao Ministry of Public Security.
The drugs were uncovered on June 6 in Bokeo province, some 350 km northwest of Lao capital Vientiane. During a vehicle search, officers found 124 bags containing a total of 124 kg of ketamine. One suspect was arrested at the scene, the report stated on Tuesday.
Authorities are investigating the case to trace the source of the drugs and identify any other individuals involved.
The Lao government is collaborating with relevant agencies at all levels to strengthen efforts to combat drug trafficking and eliminate drug abuse nationwide. The government reaffirmed its commitment to tackling drug-related issues, emphasizing drug control as a top national priority. ■
