Myanmar police seize over 9.7 mln stimulant tablets

YANGON, May 17 (Xinhua) -- Myanmar authorities have seized more than 9.7 million stimulant tablets and several kg of synthetic drugs in central Myanmar, state-owned daily The Mirror reported on Saturday.

Acting on a tip-off, anti-narcotics police carried out operations in Minhla and Pyinmana townships in Magway region and Nay Pyi Taw Union Territory from May 9 to 11, and confiscated the narcotics, the report said.

The seized narcotics included approximately 9.798 million stimulant tablets, 5 kg of ICE (methamphetamine), 1 kg of ketamine, and 2.915 kg of "happy water," a synthetic drug, the report said.

Nine suspects in connection with the case have been arrested, and have been charged under the country's laws. Further investigations are ongoing, it added.
