ISLAMABAD, May 3 (Xinhua) -- Pakistani security forces have killed five militants and apprehended two others during a series of intelligence-based operations across the northwest Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, the military said in a statement on Saturday.
The operations were carried out on April 30 and May 1 in Bajaur, North Waziristan, and Mohmand districts of the province, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the media wing of the Pakistani army, said in the statement.
The killed and arrested militants had been involved in numerous acts of terrorism, the ISPR added.
The country's Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif commended the security forces for neutralizing and arresting the terrorists, the prime minister's office said in a statement. ■
