KABUL, April 29 (Xinhua) -- Police have discovered more than 600 kg of hashish during a search operation in southern Afghanistan's Kandahar province, provincial police spokesman Assadullah Jamshid said Tuesday.
The alleged smugglers placed 668 kg of hashish in the cavities of a vehicle and were attempting to take it to an unknown destination, but police discovered the contraband in Shorabak district during a routine check over the weekend, the officer said.
The alleged smugglers escaped, the officer said, adding efforts were underway to bring to justice those involved in the black business. ■
