KABUL, March 3 (Xinhua) -- Afghan police have discovered five pieces of the assault rifle AK-47 and taken into custody seven individuals on the charge of involvement in criminal activities over the past 24 hours in Afghanistan, the Ministry of Interior Affairs said Monday.
The police personnel collected five stocks of Kalashnikovs in the Mandol district of the eastern Nuristan province, the ministry said in a statement posted on its X account.
Four alleged criminals have been apprehended from the western Herat province and three others from the northern Balkh over the past 24 hours, the statement added without furnishing details.
In similar operations, the Ministry of Interior Affairs reported the arrest of 71 alleged drug smugglers and the discovery of 11 kg of illicit drugs from their possessions in Kabul a day earlier on Sunday. ■
