Vietnam witnesses sharp decline in traffic accidents in 2 months

HANOI, Feb. 28 (Xinhua) -- Vietnam reported a sharp decline in the number of traffic accidents and fatalities in the first two months of this year, local media VnExpress cited the National Traffic Safety Committee as saying on Friday.

From Dec. 15, 2024 to Feb. 14, 2025, the total number of traffic accidents nationwide stood at 3,443, with 1,868 deaths and 2,312 injuries.

The committee reported a decline of 1,436 accidents (29.4 percent), 189 fatalities (9.2 percent) and 1,616 injuries (41.1 percent) compared to the same period last year.

Road accidents accounted for the majority, with 3,408 accidents, 1,843 fatalities, and 2,306 injuries, down 29.6 percent, 9.26 percent, and 41.2 percent year-on-year, respectively.
