LASHKAR GAH, Afghanistan, Feb. 10 (Xinhua) -- Afghan authorities set on fire 30.5 tons of poor quality, substandard and outdated foodstuff and medicines outside Lashkar Gah, the provincial capital of south Afghanistan's Helmand province, on Monday.

The provincial director for the Afghanistan Food and Drug Authority Sardar Mohammad Qasid said the expired and spoiled items had been collected from different parts of Lashkar Gah city over the past three months.

No shop or company would be allowed to supply expired and poor-quality medicine and foodstuff to the people, the official said.
