HANOI, Dec. 3 (Xinhua) -- Vietnam's wood and timber product exports are projected to hit 15.5 billion to 16 billion U.S. dollars this year, given an export growth of nearly 21 percent to 13.18 billion dollars achieved in the first 10 months, Vietnam News Agency cited the Department of Forestry under the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development as saying on Tuesday.
The United States is currently the largest importer of Vietnam's wood and timber products, accounting for over half of the market share, followed by China and Japan.
Among Vietnam's top 15 export markets, wood and timber product exports to Spain sees the strongest increase, at over 63 percent.
Many local wood processing companies said they had secured orders until the first quarter of next year.
The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development will continue to implement policies that encourage the development of large and certified sustainable forest management timber, and the development of cooperation and linkages in forest plantation production associated with the consumption of forest products. ■
