KUALA LUMPUR, Dec. 3 (Xinhua) -- Malaysia's crude oil and condensate production totaled 41.8 million barrels in the third quarter of 2024, declining by 8.9 percent compared to the previous year, official data showed Tuesday.
The Department of Statistics Malaysia said in a statement that the decrease was due to a drop of 14.2 percent in crude oil production. However, condensate production remained positive, rising 4.6 percent during the quarter.
Meanwhile, the production of natural gas contracted by 2.7 percent year-on-year to 659.3 billion cubic feet.
During the third quarter, the export value of crude oil and condensate stood at 8.2 billion ringgit (1.83 billion U.S. dollars), lower than 9.4 billion ringgit in the previous quarter.
Meanwhile, the export value of refined petroleum products fell to 27.9 billion ringgit during the quarter as compared to 29.6 billion ringgit in the previous quarter.
The value of liquefied natural gas exports also decreased to 12.7 billion ringgit in the third quarter from 13 billion ringgit in the second quarter. (1 ringgit equals 0.22 U.S. dollars) ■
