NEW DELHI, Nov. 18 (Xinhua) -- Three wild elephants, including a calf, were electrocuted to death after coming in contact with a live wire in the eastern Indian state of Odisha, officials said Monday.
A forest official said two female adult elephants and a calf were killed immediately after accidentally stepping on a live wire trap meant to catch wild boars in Naktideul area of Sambalpur district in Odisha.
Local media reports said the live wire trap has been placed for wild boars to prevent damage to crops in the vicinity. ■
