TOKYO, Nov. 19 (Xinhua) -- U.S. tech giant Microsoft has launched a research and development center in Tokyo to drive AI research and innovation in the Asia-Pacific region.
The Microsoft Research Asia-Tokyo lab will focus on key areas such as embodied AI, societal AI, well-being and neuroscience, and industry innovation, addressing challenges aligned with Japan's socio-economic priorities, according to a Microsoft release.
The goal is to leverage cutting-edge technology to drive societal progress and contribute to the region's innovation ecosystem, according to Microsoft Japan.
Miki Tsusaka, President of Microsoft Japan, highlighted the lab's role in addressing local challenges and supporting Japan's digital transformation efforts.
The lab will also offer internships, research programs, and scholar exchanges to cultivate future innovators. ■
