Brunei top Chinese school celebrates Teachers' Day

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN, Sept. 29 (Xinhua) -- A celebration of Brunei Teachers' Day was held at the country's largest Chinese school in capital Bandar Seri Begawan Saturday.

The celebration ceremony in Chung Hwa Middle School featured an award presentation and art performances by students. Over 50 teachers, including two from China, were presented with the "Teacher Brilliance Award."

Kho Guik Lan, principal of Chung Hwa Middle School, said in her speech that teachers are also the inheritors of educational culture and bear the important responsibility of passing on the outstanding traditional Chinese culture.

"Through classroom teaching and various campus activities, we share the spirit of Chinese culture with generations of students at Chung Hwa Middle School, helping them absorb and appreciate this culture," she said.

Brunei has eight Chinese schools, with around 5,000 students in total. Chung Hwa Middle School has more than 2,000 students, making it the largest Chinese school in Brunei.
