NEW DELHI, Sept. 2 (Xinhua) -- An Indian army trooper was wounded Monday after militants attacked a military base in Indian-controlled Kashmir, police said.
The militants resorted to firing by targeting the camp at Sunjwan area in Jammu city, the winter capital of Indian-controlled Kashmir.
"Gunshots were heard here in which one army trooper was wounded. We are investigating the whole matter," Ajay Sharma, a senior police official in Jammu, told media.
The wounded trooper who was manning one of the posts was immediately evacuated to the hospital.
Immediately after the attack, government forces rushed to the spot to trace the attackers.
Last week, three militants were killed in two separate gunfights in the region. ■
