KABUL, Aug. 22 (Xinhua) -- More than 130,000 Afghan women are currently involved in women-owned businesses in Afghanistan, according to a local media report.

Since the Afghan caretaker government took over power in August 2021, more than 2,500 female entrepreneurs have received business licenses, and over 130,000 other Afghan women are currently engaged in business activities without licenses, the TOLOnews reported on Wednesday.

"In general, women are active in nine sectors, including agriculture, livestock, health, industry, logistics and services," Nazanin Ahmadzai, the spokesperson for the Afghanistan Women's Chamber of Commerce and Industry, was quoted as saying.

According to Ahmadzai, the chamber is committed to supporting Afghan female entrepreneurs.
