HANOI, Aug. 9 (Xinhua) -- Rents for retail space in Vietnam's capital Hanoi could rise by 17-18 percent this year in the downtown and by 8-9 percent in the city's outskirts, VnExpress reported Friday, citing the property consultancy CBRE.

The rental prices might grow by 10 percent and 3 percent respectively every year in the next three years, said the report.

CBRE said the average monthly rent in Hanoi's downtown area was 180 U.S. dollars per square meter in the first half of this year, after rising by 11 percent from a year earlier.

Reports from multiple real estate agencies and consultancies suggested that retail rents in the capital are on the rise due to low supply and growing demand from large international brands.
