BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN, July 24 (Xinhua) -- Brunei's participation in free trade agreements offers critical opportunities for market access and supply chain integration, especially with like-minded advanced economies such as in the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP), a minister Brunei's government said on Wednesday.

Haji Mohd Amin Liew, minister at the prime minister's office and second minister of finance and economy of Brunei, highlighted Brunei's dedication to the rules-based multilateral trading system in his remarks at the CPTPP Stakeholder Engagement held in Brunei, as reported by the local daily Borneo Bulletin.

"It is in this spirit that Brunei Darussalam ratified the CPTPP Agreement in 2023. Our objective is simple, to deliver economic benefits and opportunities for our businesses," the Borneo Bulletin quoted the minister as saying.

The minister said that the CPTPP remains a free trade agreement of the highest standards, and parties have continued to work diligently to maintain its gold standard reputation, providing tangible benefits to all stakeholders.
