VIENTIANE, July 19 (Xinhua) -- The Lao government has introduced internationally recognized standard operating procedures for wildlife health surveillance to prevent and reduce disease risks to humans, animals and environmental health.
The procedures will be implemented through collaboration between the Lao Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry and the Wildlife Conservation Society (WCS), Lao National Radio reported on Friday.
Standard operating procedures will provide technical guidance to stakeholders, including government, the private sector, and non-governmental organizations working in wildlife conservation, in the surveillance, investigation, and control of and response to wildlife morbidity and mortality events and disease outbreaks, it reported. ■
