TASHKENT, July 19 (Xinhua) -- Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan plan to increase bilateral trade to 2 billion U.S. dollars, the press service of the president of Uzbekistan said on Thursday.
Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev discussed issues related to Uzbek-Kyrgyz cooperation during the meeting with Kyrgyz President Sadyr Japarov, who is on a state visit to Uzbekistan from July 18 to 19, the press service said in a statement.
"The importance of developing comprehensive measures to bring trade turnover to 2 billion dollars in the coming years was emphasized," the statement said.
Priority attention was given to the prompt practical implementation of strategic regional projects, including the construction of the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan railway, it added.
"The head of Uzbekistan noted that the state visit of the president of Kyrgyzstan to our country has become historic and marks the beginning of a new chapter in the multifaceted Uzbek-Kyrgyz cooperation," said the statement. ■
