ISLAMABAD, July 9 (Xinhua) -- Remittances sent by overseas Pakistani workers increased by 44.4 percent in June year-on-year, the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) said on Tuesday.
The workers' remittances recorded an inflow of 3.1586 billion U.S. dollars in June as compared to 2.1871 billion dollars recorded in the same month of the previous year.
Cumulatively, an inflow of 30.251 billion dollars was recorded in the fiscal year 2023-24 (starting from July 2023 to June 2024) in comparison to an inflow of 27.333 billion dollars in the previous fiscal year, witnessing an increase of 10.7 percent, the data showed.
Last month, overseas remittances mainly came from Saudi Arabia with 808.6 million dollars, the United Arab Emirates with 654.3 million dollars, Britain with 487.4 million dollars and the United States with 322.1 million dollars, according to the central bank. ■
