MANILA, July 8 (Xinhua) -- The driver of a sports utility vehicle (SUV) was killed after his car rammed into a parked 16-wheeler truck in Tondo district in the Philippine capital Manila on Monday morning, the police said.
The police said the victim's car was speeding before crashing into the truck's rear, as shown in the closed-circuit television footage posted on social media.
Due to the strong impact, the SUV was stuck under the truck. Rescuers from the Bureau of Fire Protection and the police retrieved the body of the driver around 11:30 a.m. local time. They rushed the victim to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
The police are investigating the accident. ■
