ISLAMABAD, July 3 (Xinhua) -- Pakistan saw its exports increase by over 10 percent for fiscal year 2023-24, officials from the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS) said on Wednesday.
The exports for fiscal year 2023-24 running from July 1, 2023 to June 30, 2024 were recorded at 30.645 billion U.S. dollars, compared to 27.724 billion dollars for fiscal year 2022-23, marking a growth of 10.54 percent, according to PBS officials.
On a year-on-year basis, the exports in June increased by 7.34 percent to 2.529 billion dollars, compared to 2.356 billion dollars in June 2023, the PBS said.
Meanwhile, on a month-on-month basis, the exports declined by 10.92 percent in June, compared to 2.839 billion dollars in May.
On the other hand, imports declined by 0.84 percent to 54.734 billion dollars in fiscal year 2023-24, compared to 55.198 billion dollars for fiscal year 2022-23.
Based on the figures, the trade deficit for fiscal year 2023-24 was recorded at 24.089 billion dollars against a deficit of 27.474 billion dollars in the previous fiscal year, showing a decline of 12.32 percent, according to the PBS. ■
