VIENTIANE, June 13 (Xinhua) -- The Lao government is working with development partners to promote capacity building for female entrepreneurs in Laos, especially from micro, small and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs) involved in producing handicrafts.

Under a capacity-building program, 30 entrepreneurs from Lao capital Vientiane and the provinces of Bolikhamxay and Vientiane completed a short professional training course on handicraft and employment generation for female entrepreneurs from MSMEs.

The course was implemented by the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprise Promotion Agency under the Lao Ministry of Industry and Commerce and ran from May 27 to June 12, according to a report issued on Thursday by the ministry.

The objective of the course was to establish a group of chain producers and strengthen the capacity of entrepreneurs running micro and small enterprises in the handicrafts sector.

The training course allowed them to develop skills for producing unique, standard and quality handicraft products to meet the needs of domestic and international markets.

In addition, the course enabled female entrepreneurs from MSMEs to acquire relevant skills in producing handicrafts, formulating business plans and managing funds.
