YANGON, May 28 (Xinhua) -- Myanmar's authorities have seized 22.5 kg of raw opium in the country's eastern state of Shan, said a release by the Central Committee for Drug Abuse Control (CCDAC) on Tuesday.
Acting on a tip-off, anti-narcotic police searched a vehicle in Kunhing Township on May 27 and confiscated the drugs, the CCDAC said.
The seized drugs had a street value of 6.7 million kyats (over 3,000 U.S. dollars) and one suspect was arrested, the committee said.
The suspect caught with drugs has been charged under the country's Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Law, it added. ■
