DHAKA, May 20 (Xinhua) -- The Bangladeshi government will launch an international peace award named after the country's Father of the Nation, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
In a meeting on Monday, the country's cabinet approved a draft of the Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Peace Award Policy 2024.
After the meeting, Cabinet Secretary Mahbub Hossain told journalists that the proposed award consists of 100,000 U.S. dollars and a gold medal will be given every two years.
According to the official, the award will be given to any individual, organization or institution from Bangladesh or anywhere in the world for their contribution to peace. ■
