KABUL, April 29 (Xinhua) -- Afghanistan's central bank will inject 16 million U.S. dollars into the local market on Tuesday in a bid to maintain the stability of the national currency the afghani, the central bank said Monday.

"The bidders including moneychangers and private banks should deposit the necessary money in cash in the form of afghani in the central bank -- Da Afghanistan Bank," the central bank said in a statement posted on social media.

The Afghan central bank also auctioned 16 million U.S. dollars last week.

The bank, aiming to prevent the fall of afghani, has injected millions of U.S. dollars into the money-exchange market over the past two years.

The Afghan caretaker government, which took power in August 2021 in the wake of the withdrawal of the U.S.-led troops from Afghanistan, has taken a series of measures to maintain the stability of the afghani against foreign currencies.
