SEOUL, April 26 (Xinhua) -- Kim Jong Un, top leader of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK), visited a military institute and oversaw the test-firing of a newly-produced multiple rocket launcher on Thursday, in celebration of the 92nd founding anniversary of the Korean People's Revolutionary Army, state media said Friday.
In a speech at the Kim Il Sung Military University, Kim called on the military academy to "train a large number of military talents fully prepared for modern warfare," the official Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) reported.
On the same day, Kim also oversaw the test-firing of 240 mm shell of a multiple rocket launcher manufactured by a newly established defense industry enterprise, according to another KCNA report on Friday.
Kim stressed the need for the country's defense industry to prudently carry out the munitions production plan for this year in a qualitative way, the report said.
He said that the multiple rocket launcher system, which features new technology, "will bring about a strategic change in bolstering up the country's artillery force." ■
