JAKARTA, April 22 (Xinhua) -- The Indonesian navy arrested a courier smuggling 19 kg of crystal methamphetamine in a speed boat that was also carrying four illegal migrant workers on Siondo Island in Riau Islands province on Monday.
Commander of the Indonesian Naval Base in Batam First Admiral Tjatur Soniarto said the suspect brought the methamphetamine from Malaysia and transported illegal migrant workers who were returning to Indonesia at the same time.
"The perpetrator tried to run away before we fired five warning shots into the air," he said.
Another courier escaped and is currently being searched for. The investigation is still underway. ■
