DHAKA, March 21 (Xinhua) -- Bangladesh's imports dropped nearly 14 percent year-on-year to 44.32 billion U.S. dollars in the first seven months of the 2023-24 fiscal year (July 2023-June 2024).
According to the latest statistics of the Bangladesh Bank, the settlement of letters of credit, generally known as actual imports, stood at 44,318.38 million dollars in July-January compared to 51,489.31 million dollars in the same period a year earlier.
In the period, Bangladesh's overall import orders declined 4.23 percent year-on-year. ■
