KUALA LUMPUR, March 13 (Xinhua) -- Malaysia's wholesale and retail trade recorded sales value of 142.4 billion ringgit (30.4 billion U.S. dollars), an increase of 5.4 percent year-on-year in January, official data showed Wednesday.
The Department of Statistics Malaysia (DOSM) said in a note that for monthly comparison, sales value fell 1.1 percent as compared to December 2023.
According to the DOSM, the yearly increase was driven by wholesale trade sub-sector, which rose 5.5 percent to register 63.7 billion ringgit.
Motor vehicles sales expanded 16 percent to 17.6 billion ringgit, while retail trade grew 2.6 percent to settle at 61.1 billion ringgit. (1 ringgit equals 0.21 U.S. dollars) ■
