ISLAMABAD, March 3 (Xinhua) -- Three terrorists were killed and four others injured during a clash with security forces in Pakistan's northwest Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, the military has said.
The security forces conducted an intelligence-based operation in the Karak district of the province on the reported presence of terrorists, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the media wing of the Pakistani military, said in a statement on Saturday.
"During the conduct of the operation, intense fire exchange took place between troops and terrorists, as a result of which three terrorists were killed while four terrorists got injured," the ISPR said, adding that a huge cache of arms, ammunition and explosives were recovered during the operation.
The killed terrorists were actively involved in numerous terrorist activities against law enforcement agencies as well as innocent civilians, the ISPR said.
A clearance operation of the area is being carried out to eliminate the presence of terrorists from the area, it added. ■
