PHNOM PENH, March 1 (Xinhua) -- Cambodia and Liechtenstein have signed a framework agreement on development cooperation, with a particular focus on human resources development, said a Cambodian foreign ministry's press release on Friday.

The deal was inked in Phnom Penh on Thursday between Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sok Chenda Sophea and visiting Liechtenstein Minister of Foreign Affairs, Education and Sports Dominique Hasler.

"This agreement aims to further strengthen the bonds of friendship and deepen development cooperation, with a particular focus on human resources development," the news release said.

"Both ministers shared the belief that this agreement would pave the way for other agreements and memorandum of understanding on various sectors of common interests," it added.

During their talks before the signing, Sok Chenda Sophea also welcomed Hasler's intention to establish a representative office of the Liechtenstein Development Service in Cambodia, saying that this office would facilitate the implementation of existing projects in the kingdom.

"Both ministers expressed their commitment to further strengthen and expand cooperation in potential areas, particularly, in education and vocational training," the news release said.

They also discussed regional and international issues of common interests and concerns, it added.

Hasler is on a three-day official visit to Cambodia from Feb. 29 to March 2, making her the first Liechtenstein minister to visit the Southeast Asian country, the news release said.
