KABUL, Feb. 29 (Xinhua) -- The Afghan caretaker government's Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs Mawlawi Amir Khan Muttaqi has said that his country wants to have further improved and closer relations with Pakistan with the formation of a new government in Islamabad.
"We hope that after the elections in Pakistan and the formation of a new government, the situation and relations will further improve," the local media Tolonews TV channel quoted Muttaqi on Thursday as saying.
Citing the impoverished economy of the people of both the neighboring nations, the Afghan interim administration's top diplomat said improved relations would serve the interests of the people of both sides. ■
