COLOMBO, Feb. 26 (Xinhua) -- Maldivian President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu on Monday announced plans to build 40,000 housing units in the Maldives over the next five years, according to the official government news portal.
When addressing residents of Nolhivaranfaru island, Muizzu said formulating a medium-term and long-term plan to consolidate the population is important.
Muizzu also highlighted the importance of specialized doctors and high-quality laboratory services for good healthcare.
He added that Nolhivaranfaru has been identified for long-term consolidation efforts, citing its land and conducive conditions for large-scale projects. ■
