YANGON, Feb. 15 (Xinhua) -- Seven people were killed in a traffic accident involving a 22-wheeled lorry and a private car in southern Myanmar's Mon state on Thursday, the Myanmar Fire Services Department said.
The fatal accident occurred at around 11:30 a.m. local time (0500 GMT) when the lorry collided with a Probox car in Thaton township of Mon state.
"All seven people onboard the Probox car died on the spot," an official from the Moe Kaung Rescue Organization told Xinhua. The Probox car was trapped under the lorry due to the accident, he added.
Only two bodies could be retrieved manually, while the remaining bodies were recovered after the lorry was lifted and the roof of the Probox car was cut through, he said.
The victims, five male and two female, were sent to a nearby hospital, the official said. ■
