ISLAMABAD, Feb. 12 (Xinhua) -- Remittances sent by overseas Pakistani workers increased by 26.2 percent in January 2024 on a year-on-year basis, the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) said on Monday.
The workers' remittances recorded an inflow of 2.3971 billion U.S. dollars in January as compared to 1.9001 billion dollars in the same month of the previous year.
Meanwhile, the remittances increased by 0.6 percent month-on-month, the SBP data showed.
Cumulatively, an inflow of 15.832 billion dollars was recorded in the first seven months of the current fiscal year from July 2023 to June 2024, the data showed.
Last month, overseas remittances mainly came from Saudi Arabia with 587.3 million dollars, the United Arab Emirates with 407.6 million dollars, Britain with 362.1 million dollars and the United States with 283.4 million dollars, according to the central bank. ■
