YANGON, Feb. 2 (Xinhua) -- Myanmar and Thailand will hold a friendship tourism festival in Myanmar's border town Kawthoung on Feb. 4-8, state media reported on Friday.
The official television channel MRTV cited U Aung Htay Lwin, an official from Kawthoung's Directorate of Hotels and Tourism, as saying that the festival is a tourism collaboration between border towns of Myanmar and Thailand.
The event will showcase over 80 booths displaying tourism products, including tourism destinations and hotels.
U Aung Htay Lwin said that the festival aims to bolster the region's tourism sector by attracting tourists from Thailand and other countries.
Approximately 40 booths will be from Thailand.
Kawthoung shares its border with the Thai town of Ranong in the east, serving as a primary entry point to Myanmar for many travelers. ■
