JAKARTA, Dec. 2 (Xinhua) -- A 5.7-magnitude earthquake rocked off Indonesia's eastern province of Maluku on Saturday, the meteorology, climatology and geophysics agency said.
The quake, which occurred at 19:01 Jakarta time (1201 GMT), was centered 183 km northwest of Tanimbar Islands Regency with a depth of 150 km under the seabed, it said.
The agency did not issue a tsunami warning as the tremor would not trigger giant waves.
The archipelagic country is frequently stricken by earthquakes for its location on the quake-prone "Pacific Ring of Fire." ■
