HANOI, Nov. 30 (Xinhua) -- Vietnam's national index of industrial production in November advanced 3 percent against October and 5.8 percent year-on-year, according to the country's General Statistics Office.
In the first 11 months, the index increased 1 percent year-on-year, said the office.
The processing and manufacturing sector, the main driver behind the surge, went up by 8.7 percent year-on-year during the cited period.
The electricity production and distribution sector expanded by 3.2 percent, and the water supply and waste management sector increased by 4.9 percent.
The mineral exploitation sector reported a year-on-year increase of 2.8 percent in 11 months.
The index of industrial production in 11 months increased in 50 localities nationwide and dropped in 13 others, said the office. ■
