ISLAMABAD, Nov. 10 (Xinhua) -- Pakistani caretaker Minister for National Health Services, Regulations and Coordination Nadeem Jan said on Friday that the country has been working towards strengthening the primary healthcare system to further enhance patient facilitation.
The government has been taking measures to improve primary healthcare hospitals across the country by equipping them with all modern medical and surgical equipment to facilitate the patients, especially in rural areas, the minister said during a ceremony in northwest Charsadda district.
Reforms in the health sector are the top priority of the government, he said, adding that solid actions are being taken to increase healthcare facilities in all public hospitals in the South Asian country.
In this regard, the minister highlighted that an inclusive and integrated strategy has been formulated to reduce the load on hospitals in big cities.
"About 500 basic primary healthcare hospitals would be equipped with all necessary equipment, including X-rays, ultrasound, ambulances, labs and other diagnostic services in coming months," he said.
Hundreds of hospitals are being solarized in Pakistan to provide 24-hour healthcare services to patients and uninterrupted power supply to healthcare units, the minister said.
"These healthcare initiatives aim to strengthen healthcare services at village and union council levels to facilitate rural population," he added. ■
