Malaysia's natural rubber production rises 4.7 pct in Sept.

KUALA LUMPUR, Nov. 9 (Xinhua) -- Malaysia's natural rubber production increased by 4.7 percent to 32,773 tons in September as compared to 31,309 tons in August, official data showed Thursday.

Year-on-year comparison showed that the production of natural rubber decreased by 7.6 percent from 35,460 tons last September, the Department of Statistics Malaysia (DOSM) said in a statement.

According to the DOSM, total stocks of natural rubber in September rose 7.7 percent to 154,103 tons as compared to 143,116 tons in August.

Meanwhile, exports of Malaysia's natural rubber amounted to 57,028 tons in September, down 0.8 percent as against 57,488 tons in August.

China remained the main destination for natural rubber exports, which accounted for 45.7 percent of total exports in September.

This was followed by Germany (5.3 percent), Pakistan (5.3 percent), Portugal (2.9 percent), and Türkiye (2.3 percent).

The performance of the third quarter showed natural rubber production increased by 19.6 percent to 92,615 tons as compared to 77,453 tons in the second quarter.

The annual performance of Malaysia's natural rubber production in the third quarter recorded a decrease of 16.5 percent as compared to 110,969 tons in the third quarter of 2022.
